How we handle reports

Last updated 3 November 2026

What happens to your report

  1. Received: your report is encrypted as soon as it is sent, and you get a reference number. You follow up later with that number and a code sent to your email.
  2. Review: a small trusted team reviews it for completeness and may ask you for more information through the follow-up page.
  3. Documentation: the verified report is added to the evidence record. Any files you sent are kept exactly as received, with a digital fingerprint for each file that proves it has not changed.
  4. Sharing with justice bodies: only if you agree, we may share your report with official investigators such as the UN Fact-Finding Mission for Sudan or the International Criminal Court. Every share is recorded.

What we do not promise

We cannot promise you financial compensation, a passport or resettlement. Those decisions are made by courts, governments and international organizations, not by us. What we promise is to keep your testimony safe and to work to bring it to those who can deliver justice.

Protecting your identity

  • We ask you to confirm your email only to prevent fake reports. We never publish your identity.
  • Your name, phone and personal details are encrypted and seen only by reviewers.
  • Every access to a report is recorded, so nobody can read or change reports in secret.
  • We never share your data with advertisers or companies.

If you are in danger

If you are in immediate danger, get to a safe place first. Use the Get help page to reach protection and mental health services.
